And why do you set the aim for the web application to be able to do what the native application next to it will be unable of ?
Knowing that real support also requires input, and there you really can't do that properly without OS support.
Knowing that in most cases you will be reimplementing in parallel the support the user has added to the OS so that native application can get it.
