Hi all,

With avatars landing shortly in the browser, and display names soon to follow,
I think it’s a good time to re-open the discussion around sharing identity
information from the Firefox Account.

Google [1] and Facebook have taken a lot of flack over their real-name policy.
I think that allowing users some flexibility in their identity helps them
engage more effectively in certain contexts:
Users may not want to use their real name when posting publicly
Users may want to tailor their identity to a specific community (e.g. MDN vs.
SuMo)
I’ve developed my original mockup further.

The idea is to present a first-run screen when logging into each property for
the first time (or when registering through one).

The presented Marketplace example illustrate a few features:
The user can, by default, provide their account identity to Marketplace, which
will remain updated (i.e. linked)
The user can override this default and make a custom identity for Marketplace
maintained in Marketplace settings
Marketplace can request additional pieces of identity information
If needed, this information can be fed back in to Firefox Accounts
Do all of these features make sense?
