You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have an SSD device which is my old internal disk that I keep as a data backup. This SSD contains multiple partitions: Windows (reserved partition, data and recovery), Linux (Ext4) and EFI partition.
When I plug this device with USB, it is mount and umount about every seconds. Here is my dmesg log: https://pastebin.com/CmuygSBZ >From 19712.438747 to 19984.763126, the device was connected to one of my USB3 >port and from 19992.696855 to the end, the SSD was connected to another USB3 >port. I tried to connect the SSD on another laptop with Ubuntu 20.04 LiveUSB and I reproduce the issue. I tried to connect it on another desktop with Windows 10 and I don't have any issue with the disk. ==== System information ==== pierre@pierre-Inspiron-5567:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS Release: 20.04 pierre@pierre-Inspiron-5567:~$ sudo smartctl -s on -d sat -a /dev/sdb smartctl 7.1 2019-12-30 r5022 [x86_64-linux-5.4.0-58-generic] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-19, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Device Model: SanDisk X400 2.5 7MM 256GB Serial Number: 164784420492 LU WWN Device Id: 5 001b44 4a67ea088 Firmware Version: X4130012 User Capacity: 256060514304 bytes [256 GB] Sector Size: 512 bytes logical/physical Rotation Rate: Solid State Device Form Factor: 2.5 inches Device is: Not in smartctl database [for details use: -P showall] ATA Version is: ACS-2 T13/2015-D revision 3 SATA Version is: SATA 3.2, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Mon Dec 21 19:14:33 2020 CET SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.
