system hangs when restarting from hibernation

Bug description:
Whether the system goes into hibernation automatically or is put into
hibernation, when restarting it always hangs. The system is a Toshiba
notebook, Satellite A100-TA6 and the Ubuntu version is 9.04. With
8.10 I occasionally had problems in restarting from hibernation with
messages to the effect that the LinuxDriver.Pwr had failed to thaw,
but now, it hangs just after the splash screen is displayed (and when
the screen goes blank). I have waited for 20 minutes (there seems to
be some access to the hard disk) but there is no response and the
system has to be powered down with the power button.
