Title:
Lightdm often fails to show greeter (mouse cursor briefly visibly)
  ubuntu 13.10

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On boot (or lightdm restart) often I don't get to see the greeter.
Only after running 'sudo restart lightdm' a couple of time do I get to
  actually make it work.

X starts (and the mouse cursor is briefly visible) but shuts down
immediatly without an error in the logs.

On failure the lightdm greeter log shows:

  (gnome-settings-daemon:2569): Gdk-WARNING **: gnome-settings-daemon:
Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.
