Title:
Terminal keeps reverting to default size during use

Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When using the terminal, if you resize it to something other than the
default size (but don't maximize it), then it will randomly revert
  back to the default size.

It seems to happen randomly without any specific cause.

The only work around is to maximize the terminal, but that isn't often
  a good solution.
