The system behaves normally as long as I never close the lid. As soon as I close and reopen it, the screen turns black for a second or so every 2 or 3 seconds. This stops as soon as I kill gnome-settings- daemon. The problem occurs both before logging in, when on the gdm screen and after logging in, on the regular GNOME desktop. In both cases killing gnome-settings-daemon solves the problem, but many features as multimedia keys do not work without gnome-settings-daemon. I attach /var/log/syslog. See the lines containing [drm]. They look like that the system is going through graphics modes in an infinite loop, but on the screen after each darking the screen content returns with the same resolution.
