Michele, USC allows searching within categories and subcategories,
whereas the Mac App Store and Google Play (as far as I know) do not.
That means it would be unclear what a search from an application screen
was applying to. If you can think of a solution to this, please propose
it in bug 1018678.

Search bar should appear in all pages (oneiric version)

Title:
  Search box behaviour not consistent

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
A search box is a quite important UI element, as a professional UX
designer I am puzzled by the behaviour of the search box in the
software center: why does it disappear once the user reaches the
  application detail screen?

According to my experience it would be a good idea to keep the search box
always accessible, for at least two reasons:
-the user won't be confused by changing UI
-the user willing to perform a search won't need to click the back arrow to
be able to search

I hope this will be a userful idea for the development team.
