To Simon Morrish, I use Linux Mint 14 with Mate and I have the same problem as described in this bug. It is thus not strictly related to Ubuntu or Unity. It might have to do with GVFS.
I know Mint is a fork from Ubuntu, but nonetheless it affects other users of other operating system. You now know where not to move OS... > What toys? To Sebastien Bacher, I used to be a huge fan of Ubuntu. But I felt that with the changes in look and functionality your team put in the Unity project, your great OS lost to me most of it's appeal. I too feel that Ubuntu is now filled with toys, being less of a "work" station and more like a hydrid desktop environment trying to find a distinct identity... Tablet ? Desktop ? Toy ?
