Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

There are many, many screensavers out there, and quite a few benefit
from being configured beforehand (GLText and other ones come to mind)

Upstream has refused to fix this, stating that any screensaver that
requires configuration is inherently broken. It was stated on the
official site of Gnome-Screensaver that the goal was to promote the
creation of quality themes. Whilst I can partially understand the
creator's reasoning, he does not and cannot account for the multiple
picture slideshow screen savers, RSS screensavers and internet-dependent
screensavers.

I would request that either the gnome-screensavers package is amended to
include one of the dozens of community modification that allow this, or
is disposed of and replaced.

** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
