Hi John, The biggest reason for the change was that is was impossible to mix number bases in one calculation. GCalctool 5.29.x has undergone a number of internal changes to become more stateless (so it is not a matter of being able to easily revert one feature). The keyboard shortcuts will be mentioned in the help and in the tooltip text for the buttons. I agree that it is very annoying to have to enter the suffix for each input number. I think the referred bug will solve this and it seems to meet the suggestion you had in the last paragraph of showing the base as the number is input. I regret that it is unlikely that the automatic base subscript feature will be complete by 5.30 (though I will try and see if I can fit it).
I am very interested in getting your feedback, if you are able please test the latest version in my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~robert-ancell/+archive/gcalctool (hmm, looks like I uploaded it to main archive by accident! So you should be able to test it by updating) -- gcalctool 5.29 hides switch for display format in its settings window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/501054 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
