I added the patch to 580103. However, I don't know the right way to get that bug moved from the gnome-panel team to the glib team.
Also, has anybody tried out the patch and made sure it fixes the problem? I'm pretty confident it does, as I was able to observe bad behavior on my single-head machine that the patch corrected, but it would be preferrable for someone experiencing the problem to confirm that. (I'm avoiding upgrading due exclusively to THIS BUG.
