Alexander, thanks for the reply and the reasoning. For your reference, the best result I can achieve BY FAR, is using the following:
- Default fonts (Sans) and dpi - Autohinter enabled as I commented on comment #5 (https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/349850/comments/5). The local.conf file is not really necessary; I use it because bold fonts looks better (not so big, as I posted on bug #349869). - In System->Preferences->Appearance, Fonts tab: - Rendering = Best shapes - In Details: - Resolution = 96 dots per inch - Smoothing = Grayscale - Hinting = Medium - Subpixel Order = RGB With the above settings, my font looking is far better than default. -- Autohinter should be enabled by default in Jaunty to avoid font rendering inconsistencies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349850 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libgnome in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
