This could be considered a bug or a sugestion. I have a splitter to show
a signal in many monitors (and the same happens when using a vtswitch).
Ubuntu (xorg) is obviously not being able to receive the info from the
monitors, so it only allows to change the resolution to 640x480 max.
Connected directly to a monitor, everything works fine and ubuntu works
in 1024x768. This is right now avoiding us to use ubuntu for educational
purposes (need to show in several monitors to students in a room). I
believe the right choice would be to (in case monitor isn't detected)
allow the user to force resolution him/herself (being warned about the
risk of damaging an old monitor of course). Windows and OSX do this.
We've been told this can be forced by editing a configuration file, but
it seems too complex for what people here is capable of. Thanks
