Ok, attached here is "gvfs-mount -li", per request. It appears this isn't Nautilus after all, nor a kernel or hal problem. It seems gvfs on amd64 is broken. I note I can manually mount the usb flash drive, which doesn't need gvfs or fuse, but Nautilus does now need this for a mount. Nautilus is showing icons OK because hal is working. The gvfs-bin package seems to be in terrible trouble on amd64, if its publish log is any indication.
This theory seems to fit available facts- but I'll happily let others more schooled on Ubuntu weigh in. And yes, I did reboot after installing the July 31 gvfs-bin package, and things didn't change, at all. I can manually mount, and then use Nautilus to see the contents of a USB flash drive. But the actual USB Drive icon will not mount, with the generic error dialog. ** Attachment added: "Output of gvfs-mount -li" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16486630/gvfs-mount -- Nautilus can't open usb flash drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246189 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
