Yes, that is exactly my problem. I am unable to see any of the icons you linked
to. Other icons, such as the home folder icon, do work. Also, it only seems to
affect nautilus. The stock folder icon shows up just fine in my panel and in
thunar.

I first thought it was a nautilus problem (and it may be) but running nautilus
from the terminal and running it in debug mode didn't produce any error
messages. Finally I found that if I uninstalled the package tango-icon-theme
the folder icons returned.

Here is the output of the command:

find /usr/share/icons/ -name icon-theme.cache | grep -E "(Human|gnome|Tang)"
|xargs ls -l
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9349636 2006-04-17 07:57
/usr/share/icons/gnome/icon-theme.cache
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2160960 2006-04-18 09:07
/usr/share/icons/Human/icon-theme.cache
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 341576 2006-04-18 20:58
/usr/share/icons/Tangerine/icon-theme.cache
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1404296 2006-04-19 08:25
/usr/share/icons/Tango/icon-theme.cache

I'm afraid I am not sure of any steps to reproduce this. I assumed that it
would be easy, as all I needed to do was install tango-icon-theme again and the
problem returned.
