Dear CCM members, As you may be aware, the Global Fund has launched a call for applications to recruit new members for the Technical Review Panel (TRP). In our effort to ensure that a diverse pool of suitable experts apply, we would appreciate if you could reach out to your networks and share information on this recruitment effort. New approach to funding With the implementation of a new funding model, the Board continues to rely on an independent panel of experts, the TRP, to ensure Global Fund investments are strategically focused and aligned to the Global Fund’s Strategy 2012-16. The TRP consists of experts in HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and health systems, community systems, and cross-cutting development issues. The TRP reviews funding requests for technical merit and strategic focus and makes funding recommendations. In advance of 2014, the TRP membership needs to be replenished to ensure that there is a robust and diverse pool of experts with the requisite skills (including language capacity) to implement the new funding model. Diversity in areas of expertise, geographic and sector experience, as well as gender and regional balance, are also key recruitment considerations. The TRP membership The following aspects are critical for being a TRP member: i) sound and up-to date overall technical expertise, ii) broad experience and understanding of programing realities on ground; iii) excellent technical judgment and ability to work in a panel of diverse experts to engage in robust debate and arrive at consensus; and iv) willingness to devote their time to make a change and ability to serve in an independent, personal capacity, and not represent the interest of an institution or constituency in order to ensure impartial judgment.
