Glenn,

I've been running IMail 8.15 HF1 with Declude 2.0.6 for a month now and without any issues that weren't around in prior versions like 1.81. They have been busy addressing small bugs and adding functionality since 2.0.6 came out and I am personally quite pleased with the progress. The issues with IMail's stability seems to be related to the occasional corrupted machine, getting slammed by dictionary attacks, and other such things. My IMail server is behind gateways for non-local E-mail and the only thing that I have seen go wrong with IMail was POP3 crashing two different times in the last 6 months, both seemingly related to application errors in McAfee or general system instability that tripped both. I wouldn't recommend touching IMail 8.20 yet however since this was a major change to SMTP and such things always take a little while to hash out the issues.

One other note about Declude and bugs. I would hope that people don't jump on them for admitting to issues when it is clear that they are working on resolving them. Jumping on them I believe discourages openness on their part, and this is something that I desire even more of. No one is perfect, and they've come a long way in the last year to embracing the feedback and requests from the users in these groups, and I think that at least for the time being, they have turned the corner for the good.

to the latest, there's an issue of some ilk being hashed-out. Stability
with the newer versions seems to be a lost cause.

Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] Move to 8.15 or 8.2?

Hi all,

I've been following the threads on system resources being consumed and some
of the issues with SMTP and logging with IMail 8.2. I am still running 8.05
HF3 and it's been pretty solid but I want to at least get to a point where
the recent vulnerabilities are patched.

So...I'm interested in the collective wisdom of whether it is advised to go
to 8.15 HF2 or 8.2 HF2 and then what version of Declude would be best (I'm
on 1.82 right now.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Andy
