I moved from 8.0x to 8.1x because of problems that Ipswitch fixed with
logging and with dropped SMTP connections, and with potential security
issues.

Yes, the 8.14 level gave me stability. Anything higher were hotfixes to
modules I don't use, so I could only introduce problems by adding those
hotfixes.

The 8.2x level is interesting to me because it finally introduces a
multithreaded SMTPD. There are other features described that many
people on this list are interested in, and discussed when Ipswitched
announced it, but that is the main lure for me.

My personal experience is that Ipswitch brings out a buggy release, then
incrementally fixes it. For me, Bill Billman's posting is just
*another* reason to not upgrade. For all I know, the problems are
entirely with IMail, but that's irrelevant, I'm sitting back and waiting
because nothing is broken at my current level.

Thanks Andrew. I was thinking that 8.2 wasn't ready yet either but
there aren't really any features in 8.1x that I need besides the fact
that they have a patch for the latest vulnerabilities.

Is there a reason you decided not to go to 8.15 and stayed at 8.14? And
have you had stability problems with the 8.1x line?

Thanks.

Andy
