Based on bouncing off of 100% cpu usage frequently, and with the qualified "it depends" I think you might not want to push this much further. That said, I've got an NT4, P2/450/256MRam box running F-Prot and Message Sniffer with software RAID1 that is holding it's own against 1000+ Messages Per hour...
