Can you reproduce this problem with XFree86 4.3.0-7, currently in Debian
unstable (sid) and testing (sarge)?
Yes. I have LANG=no_NO.UTF-8 set. I start an xterm,
and launch gimp from there. This instantly kills the X server, which is
restarted by xdm. I may then log in again.
If so, here are some instructions for sending further information that
we require to handle your report:
[The following is a form letter.]
[...]
$ /usr/share/bug/xserver-xfree86 > /tmp/output 3>&1
$ mailx -s "Re: Bug#BUGNUMBER" [EMAIL PROTECTED] < /tmp/output
I have now done this. I'll take a look at reportbug the next time
I want to report something.
It is great that you're looking into this. I have the same problem at
home, with a different machine. This prevents me from switching to UTF-8.
Please tell if you want more information, want me to run some
tests/experimental software, or if a guest account on either
machine could be useful.
