He suggested that I try this patch from the HEAD: http://cvsweb.xfree86.org/cvsweb/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/common/xf86= pciBus.c.diff?r1=3D3.68&r2=3D3.69&f=3Dh I've done a local rebuild with this change applied and it does indeed seem to solve the problem.
