This doesn't prevent you from using that mode. That's a different debconf question. "Medium" is just a way to help keep users from having to look up the horizontal sync and vertical refresh tolerances of their device. It doesn't in and of itself prevent you from using any modeline you want (unless you choose tolerance that are tighter than your hardware is actually capable of, but that can be true of "Simple" and "Advanced" as well). People have complained about this for years; I guess there really is no way to convince people to actually read the text of the debconf question. *The question asks what your monitor is CAPABLE OF, NOT what mode you want to use.* -- G.
