Package: x-window-system
Version: 4.2.1-3
Severity: normal

I just upgraded x-window-system and assorted packages. After
upgrade, I found that my window manager had been switched from
under me to fvwm. I had to rerun update-alternatives manually to
install my favourite fvwm95 again.

This is a Bad Thing, IMHO. A package upgrade should not change
systemwide defaults.

There are a number of bugs filed against update-alternatives reporting
this and similar problems.

See <http://bugs.debian.org/dpkg>.
