Hi, I was wandering whether someone has had similar problems or has otherwise an idea what this might be:
I have a Shuttle FV24 mainboard with a VIA PL133 chipset containing an integrated ProSavage4 graphics chip, with 32MB memory assigned from the main RAM. I've configured XFree with to use the 'savage' driver but every time I try to start x, it locks up solid the machine. I get a black screen and nothing responds anylonger. I can't even telnet into the machine from my other box, so the only thing that remains to do a hard reset. (Which I hate, since it causes errors on my filesystems.) No error messages are displayed and no log is written. I've also tried redirecting the output of startx without success. I've tried further to remove all modules from the XF86Config-4, but the result is the same... Does this ring a bell to somebody? Many thanks for your help in advance! best regards, Balazs
