But still, probably someone has an idea what went wrong: - I had an empty misc/fonts.alias - when I run update-fonts-alias on misc, a file called misc/fonts.alias.update-new was created -- but empty. => I copied the fonts.alias from my up and running laptop XFree-installation and now it runs. Nonetheless, I would be very interested in knowing why the f... update-fonts-alias failed -- or what I made wrong. Thanks for all your help!!! Thanks to all of you. Lukas
