Ah, that reminds me... why does the shlibs file force a >= 2.1.97 dependency? The changelog says "Up'd the shlibs deps to 2.1.97" and not much more. Other entries are similar to this one. I could guess something out of the other entries for a particular version, but on a regular basis I compile programs here at home and copy them over to different university's machines with several different versions of libc6 and I have never had a problem related to missing symbols (the same is true for X libraries, modulo Xaw, but I don't use it, so I'm ok) -- Marcelo
