it's been 2 months, and I see that there's no more activity on this, in
particular:
- nothing at

- nothing at https://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-devel/2024-July/thread.html
Does anyone in this thread have more information?
We start to hit this issue in Kali Linux (based on Debian testing), so I
guess we'll have to carry this patch. I suppose it will have to be added
to the xorg Debian package as well, at some point?
