Hi Thomas,

there was some initiative to remove old translations from webwml, some time ago.

And I remember there were some posts about this (on this list?), but I did
not find it on a quick glance, so starting a new thread.

I found that in
https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/webwml/-/commit/827f568f67217780be1dc2935dd3425486c65643
translations have been removed, some of which were re-added in
https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/webwml/-/commit/bfb08a2a78e159c6ca472eb1db581251defff229
14 months later.

This is not good, this is a waste of translator's time.

So, simply removing the old translation files is not all, is not good.
Translators are seeing the untranslated files (missing translation) in the
central i18n statistics page on
https://www.debian.org/devel/website/stats/ for their language,
which can be understood as "they are called to work on those untranslated
files".

Thus, there is some lack of mechanism somewhere.
Simply posting a note on debian-www is also not enough; new translators
are likely to miss that note.

>From the perspective of translators this is not a good situation ...
