Yes, it seems to play a key role in the project. Quoting the author of the page, Erich Schubert (I hope that he doesn't mind): "The data [from the Web site] is stored in a MySQL Database and exported once a day to a plaintext file that can be read by debtags, tagcoll and synatics-debtags. "The information should be stored in the package files, but the package browser is a prototype right now. Please check the deb-usability project at alioth, all information is collected there (especially do check the mailing list archives) "We need people interested in doing a proper tag hierarchy and policies for starting the real tagging work (which could then be included in the package files), but this needs a lot of time.
