The #debian-women channel and everyone in the debian-women project are very friendly to new people, but unfortunately there is a big problem for people whose mother tongue is not english. Some non-english speakers have expressed the problem that not having great english skills discourages them from joining the project. So we spoke about the problem in the past meeting (meeting minutes: http://women.alioth.debian.org/wiki/index.php/English/IRCMeetingMinutes) As a result, we thought it could be a good idea to create a new IRC channel to speak in spanish, called #debian-mujeres (mujeres is women in spanish :) ) So I want to invite all spanish speakers and non-spanish speakers who want to improve his/her spanish to join us. Most of the spanish speakers will join both channels, but in this way we can help people who don't know too much english to join our project. We made a spanish channel because there are a lot of people in the project that are spanish speakers. Personally I think this idea could be useful with other languages too. Anja ------ Hola a todos! El canal #debian-women, y toda la gente dentro del proyecto debian-women, son muy amistosos con la gente nueva, pero por desgracia, hay un gran problema para muchos cuyo idioma materno no es en inglés. Algunos de los no angloparlantes han expresado su problema de no tener un gran dominio del inglés, y eso les desanima a unirse al proyecto. Aunque, por supuesto, la mayoría de los hispanohablantes nos seguiremos conectando también a #debian-women, esta puede ser una buena forma de ayudar a aquellas personas que no tienen el suficiente dominio del inglés para unirse al proyecto. Hemos fundado el canal en español porque hay mucha gente en el proyecto que habla español. Personalmente, creo que esta idea podria ser igualmente muy bien aplicada a otros idiomas. Anja
