I've tried and use your packaging effort on the just released 5.0.12 upstream 
tarbal, in a naive approach to remove the upstream debian/ dir and replace it 
by a copy of the one in git.

That wouldn't work by dpkg-buildpackage-ing it.
There are errors on configuring it as libsrc/zlib dir is no more.

Would it be possible to have only a "standalone" auto-sufficiant debian/ dir in 
git and included patches on upstream's configure ?
