Hi Andres, I'm glad you are working to package xbmc. I have recently been looking at Boxee ( http://boxee.tv/ ) which is based on it. The Boxee people always point out that they are an "Open Source project", from what I read on the wikipedia page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxee a lot of it is GPL but they also have some closed source code as well (mainly the library for communicating with their value add services). As part of packaging xbmc will you also consider packaging the DFSG-free parts of boxee? I guess they already have an apt repo for Ubuntu http://apt.boxee.tv/ and some people have managed to get those debs working on lenny/sid http://forums.boxee.net/showthread.php?t=4197 http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?p=21147 I have not looked at them yet myself. I guess one thing that will determine this is how close to xbmc development boxee stays, and how quickly they will incorporate the good changes that are happening to make xbmc use system libs and more FHS sane. Please let me know if you want someone to test or review packages.
