Dear Kurt and fellow Debian Developers,

I, Gianfranco Costamagna (locutusofborg), hereby nominate myself for the
position of Debian Project Leader (DPL) for the upcoming term.

**Introduction / Biography**

I was born in 1988 in Savigliano, a small town in northwest Italy. My journey
with Linux began with Knoppix 3.4, where I was captivated by its live CD
features, experimenting with it both at school and home. This experience
ignited my passion for open-source software.

In 2014, I started contributing to Debian, initially focusing on the BOINC
packages. Over time, I expanded my contributions to various packages and
initiatives within the community. In 2015, I became a Debian Developer,
uploading since August 1, 2015. My involvement extends to Ubuntu, where I have
been a Core Developer since 2016 and a MOTU (Masters of the Universe) member
since 2015.

Professionally, I work in the embedded Linux domain, allowing me to bridge my
expertise between Debian and Ubuntu. This dual involvement has enabled me to
contribute significantly to both communities, particularly in package
maintenance and architecture support.

**Major Goals / Platform**

1. **Strengthening Debian-Ubuntu Collaboration**: Leverage my experience in
both communities to foster closer collaboration, ensuring seamless integration
and reducing duplication of efforts.

2. **Enhancing Package Quality and Maintenance**: Focus on improving the
quality and maintenance of packages, streamlining processes to ensure timely
updates and security patches.

3. **Promoting New Architectures**: Continue supporting emerging architectures
like riscv64 and loong64, ensuring Debian remains at the forefront of
technological advancements.

4. **Community Engagement**: Encourage active participation from all community
members, fostering an inclusive environment where contributions are valued and
recognized.

5. **Simplifying Processes**: As an engineer, I aim to simplify complex
processes, making it easier for contributors to engage and for users to benefit
from Debian's offerings.

**Rebuttal**

I welcome feedback and constructive criticism from the community. Engaging in
open discussions will allow us to address concerns and work collaboratively
towards Debian's continued success.

Thank you for considering my nomination.

Best regards,

Gianfranco Costamagna (locutusofborg)
