Nevertheless, what Matthias says is true for more and more packages.
*For those packages*, tag2upload is IMO an essential improvement.

We (the tag2upload developers) recognise that differernt methods are
appropriate in different situations.  That's why tag2upload (and dgit)
support so many of Debian's bewildering array of git packaging
approaches.  And it's why we're not proposing that tag2upload should
be mandatory.

We're proposing that tag2upload should be *available* as an option.
