Well, sure, but the same risk happens if you threat volunteers like dirt, which often happen in these kind of cases. Writing mails about important questions to the project to the ftp-masters, and them not even bothering to reply about this, well, how would you feel like that. I know that some of the DD have a special relationship to the ftp-masters, especially those who pass their whole day on irc, but creating second class DD who have not such relationship is not good for the project. I personally trust the ftp-masters, and believe they are working for the best of the project, but it is hard when one has questions only they can answer or act to solve, to wait apparently forever in the dark. And in some cases, it is even harmfull for the project, as it delays other work that relies on it. As a proof of that, consider the special treatment the .udebs get with regard to the NEW queue processing.
