It's interesting that my similar work laptop, Intel T16 gen 3 has a
similar problem in Windows. System goes to sleep, audio devices die,
meaning the Realtek audio device, internal speaker and mic are just gone
until reboot. Wouldn't mind that but this condition also has the effect
that bluetooth headsets are headphones only, i.e. no microphone.

You might check if it's sleep that kills your microphone.
