The review (worth reading) opens with "The most common piece of advice given to users who ask about running their own mail server is don't."

I have been running my own inbound and outbound mail servers for over 30 years using ISP connections. The only time I ran into trouble was with gmail recently and only because of mismatched SPF records for a domain I host.

I have the option to use a cloud server for my outbound mail but have never had the necessity. In fact some cloud providers prevent you originating email from your cloud VM.

My advice FWIW is that hosting your own email servers is only a problem with some ISPs. You can quickly find that out and then go to a different solution if required
