Are network services working in this state? Can you login using ssh (if ssh daemon is installed)? Maybe multicast DNS responder or some other service is running on your laptop, so you can check if it is alive.

Logs may shed some light on your trouble. Try as root on next boot

journalctl -b -1

and scroll to bottom. Use another number to inspect earlier boots.
