I wonder if that's the case. AFAIK Chromium is distributed by Google, so it's just Chrome with the proprietary bits removed. I'd be surprised if Google was going through the trouble to remove the bits that are beneficial to them. I'd expect a de-Googlized version of Chrome/Chromium to be named differently (maybe Wolfram, as suggested by Bret) and distributed by some other team (one that cares more about Free Software and privacy than Google).
