How are you performing this download?

With digiKam V8.0.0 AppImage's import function. I can see the images on the
cameras card, but cannot download them the chosen subdir to put them in is a
"" pathname ack one error message I seen.

Unless you use the Debian packages, it's extremely unlikely that folk here
on Debian-user will be able to help you.

But I see the bookworm version is 7.9 so lets see if it works, no, and this
is logged to the konsole:

Potentially remove / purge the appimage - *then* try?

Same as the other 3 appimages.
call me puzzled. On bullseye, this Just Worked.

<big snip>

So, my initial question would be why that URL is wrong. Is the application
being sent a relative directory path but interpreting it as an absolute
directory path? Something along those lines. You'll need to investigate
with people who actually know this software. Those people may or may not
be on debian-user.

That would be digiKam, and we are in the middle of running down the problem with an old fart (me) who has to be led by the hand at times.

Gene: with the best will in the world - you often rail at "Debian stuff"
which turns out not to be Debian stuff on closer examination.

Any support we can give you in that situation can only ever be best
endeavours, or, more accurately, best guess as to what may or may
not have taken place.

Fully appreciated Andy. I have the main problem of wondering who to blame, so debian often catches the first round fired, and this appears to be the present case, my apologies please. I also have your 7.9 installed, digiKam is aware of the problem which exists in the bookworm installs and thinks that with a teeny bit of reconfig, the problem will be solved. I can't for some reason find that item in the menu's so I'm waiting on some hand holding guidance.

Take care and stay well folks.> Andy
