Newer isn't necessarily better. Recall the definition of upgrading:
trading old bugs for new. Debian packages are carefully curated and
tested. I can't speak to the provenance of any snapd package.

Debian packages are supposed to (and generally do) play well with each
other.

I suggest that you should use the Debian package, and only resort to a
snap package if the Debian package will not suit your purpose.
