The archives seem to show a small number of mails (usual for that
list, apparently) as recently as November and no indication about
the shutdown of the list.
The mail servers for that domain do claim to accept email for that

Beyond that I cannot test without actually trying to send an email
there, which would seem rude from a non-subscriber.

I didn't really find any of your complaints actionable as they did
not provide any specific information. I think you will do better if
you did the usual thing of explaining:
- exactly what you did
- what exactly happened including exact output of any error message
given (not your recollection of what may have happened)
- what exactly you expected to happen instead
