For one, some terminal emulators do have escape sequences to change "cursor style" on the fly (xterm [1], among others), so a terminal-based application /could/ try to make use of that, for the other, your app might be a graphical app (nano is not, but that has to be established in the first place), then all bets are off. > Thank you all.
