There are config files for mplayer; the Debian mplayer puts them
in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf (for system global settings) and in
~/.mplayer/config. Whatever you can set in the command line option
can go in that file, at least the man page says that :-)
For more details check "man mplayer", look for the section
"CONFIGURATION FILES".
Thanks - I was able to restore my original pausing behaviour by
including a "pausing=2" line in the configuration file.
However, I can't find any reference in the man page to the displaying on
the console of ID3 tag information (title, composer, etc.) for MP3
files. The -v (verbose) option displays a lot of stuff (even more if I
specify it twice), but not the tags.
With all the things that mplayer can do, it's hard to believe that the
ability to display ID3 tag information has been removed. Does anyone
have any ideas?
