From jessie:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo dpkg --audit
aptitude search "~ahold"
dpkg -l "linux-image*" | grep ^ii | grep -i meta
sudo apt-get purge $(dpkg -l | awk '/^rc/ { print $2 }')

changed apt.sources to stretch, then:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Fixed packages left half-configured with apt-get -f, dpkg -i [offending
package], dpkg --configure --pending, etc
sudo dpkg --audit to confirm all's well.
