AFAICT, the Resynthesizer plug-in adds a script called Heal Selection that runs it. It is designed for removing unwanted objects in images and can be used to repair cracks, creases and other large areas of damage. Using the Free Select tool, make a selection around the cracks, then run the Heal Selection filter (Image Menu > Filters > Enhance > Heal Selection).
