My preference is to use aptitude for day-to-day upgrading, and apt-get for large-scale jobs e.g. a sid installation which hasn't been upgraded for a month. I also use Synaptic when there's a long-term problem with sid dependencies, and I want to upgrade individual packages, and I occasionally resort to dpkg when something needs dynamiting... -- Joe
