And I am in that latter category. My SS checks have yet to cross the $1700/month barrier. We do fairly well as the wife is a retired school teacher, so she gets SS and Teacher's Retirement. I made sure the place was paid off while we were both still working, so food, taxes & insurance, utilities & vehicle maintenance are our major outgo's.
