Actually I didn't even put a ">" (for instance, it doesn't appear in the mail copy I received in Bcc). That's Debian's mailing-list software that did. In the Bcc copy: | From the terminal point of view, the shell is just like another | process. In the copy from debian-user: | >From the terminal point of view, the shell is just like another | process. That's rather stupid because until the mail is stored in a mbox mailbox (for users who use this), the ">" is not useful at all.
